StraboTools is a versatile application tailored to support geologic fieldwork by offering precise quantitative data that can be challenging to assess on-site. Initially developed for working with plutonic rocks like granite, the tool's applicability extends to various rock types and thin section analysis. The app facilitates the analysis of images either taken within the application or imported into it.

• The Edge Fabric tool generates an ellipse that succinctly represents the orientations of image brightness gradients. In rocks exhibiting a fabric caused by deformation, this ellipse determines the fabric's orientation and axial ratio, providing insights into bulk deformation. Additionally, the tool indicates the spatial orientation of the line defined by the ellipse's long axis. Particularly valuable for fieldwork and photomicrograph analysis, edge fabric diagrams offer critical insights.
• The Color Index tool offers a quantitative way to ascertain the color index (CI; area percent dark minerals) from an image. Users capture a photograph and adjust a slider to emphasize pixels darker than a specified threshold, displaying the resulting area percentage. The tool provides both adaptive and full-image thresholding for enhanced accuracy.
• Edge Detect applies an edge detection filter to images, aiding in emphasizing subtle features on outcrops and contributing to the interpretation of edge fabric ellipses.
